News Update: How Facebook Will Fight Sex Trafficking

In today’s society, technology is used everywhere. It’s in our workplaces, our schools, our homes, and it’s probably in your hand right now in the form of a Smartphone or tablet. Technology is a part of our everyday lives.
And it’s a part of traffickers’ lives as well. Traffickers use websites like Craigslist and Backpage as a platform from which to sell victims; they post pictures of minors on these websites for potential buyers. While law enforcement officers are aware of this, there is often difficulty identifying these victims.

Therefore, NY Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has recently announced that his staff will begin using technology similar to Facebook’s facial recognition to identify potential victims on these websites and even traffickers as well.
