Highlights of our Kenya 2020 trip

For the last couple of months, I’ve wanted to share pictures and a recap of our trip to Kenya back in November 2020. Sharing more about our trip is very important to me because I want all of you to be able to see the Just1 mission come to life. This trip was significant, and without you, it would not have been possible. Here are some of my favorite things about the trip.

The reminders: God is a provider

At the time, we did not know exactly how much funds we would need for the trip but trusted God would provide, and sure enough, at the end of the trip, we had $40 left over from the $7,535 that was donated towards the trip! Exactly what we needed is what was given.

God always provides for all our needs according to His riches and glory, and I rejoice in His faithfulness displayed through your generosity.

The opportunities: Visiting with the girls in person

The trip was truly wonderful. We made so many fun and special memories with the girls and loved getting to know them better. I wish you all could meet each of them. They are all so special, with unique personalities and big, loving hearts. Kendra is shy at first, but has the biggest smile and a contagious laugh. Hadassah is an artist, full of big dreams for her future and carries wisdom far beyond her years. Susan gives the biggest, best hugs ever. Lavender has a strong and beautiful voice and loves to sing.

I could tell story after story about the girls and the trip, and I plan to share more of the stories over time in future emails and posts on our social media.

The joy: Your generosity allowed the girls to pick out new clothes for the first time

One of the things you donated towards was new clothes for the girls, so over the course of three days, we took 16 girls shopping (yes, it was crazy — I don't recommend taking 16 girls shopping at one time! We learned that the hard way on the first day, haha).

While on the trip, one day I noticed several of the girls were wearing their clothes with the tags still attached. I asked why they hadn’t taken them off and they said it’s because they want everyone to know they were new clothes. This was the first time many of these girls had been given the chance to go pick out new clothes for themselves and they were so happy.

I hope these pictures show you how REAL the impact is that you are making in these girls lives. They were so grateful for everything we gave them. I told them it was only possible because there are a lot of people in the U.S. who love them very much.

Thank you for loving these girls so well and for making this amazing trip possible! Stay tuned for more trip recaps!
