KNOW THE SIGNS,
END THE CYCLE
I Am No Victim is a prevention campaign IN THE U.S. to educate the general public on how to guard against the dangers of sex trafficking, how to know when a potential trafficking situation is developing, and how to stop it.
THE GOAL IS TO STOP SEX TRAFFICKING BEFORE IT EVEN HAPPENS.
STEP 1: GET INFORMED
WHAT THE TRAFFICKERS LOOK FOR IN CHOOSING THEIR TARGETS:
A vulnerable and easy target, which can be someone who
is homeless, a run-away, or in foster care
has low self-esteem
struggles with depression/self-harm
is searching/desperate for love
has a drug and/or alcohol addiction
TOP RECRUITMENT TOOLS/TACTICS USED BY TRAFFICKERS:
Social media, online messaging, porn/hook-up sites
Posing as a boyfriend/girlfriend, often significantly older
Utilizing relationship and position (parent, family member, school faculty)
Promising/providing money or a job
Excessive gifts like expensive new clothes and jewelry
Subtle controlling/manipulative behavior
STEP 2: BE ALERT
IF YOU’RE BREATHING, YOU’RE AT RISK. BUT BE AWARE OF THE FACTORS MENTIONED ABOVE THAT MIGHT MAKE YOU OR SOMEONE YOU KNOW MORE AT RISK OF BEING TRAFFICKED.
IF YOU ARE IN A SITUATION THAT IS A COMBINATION OF ANY OF THE POINTS IN STEP 1, CALL THE NUMBER BELOW IMMEDIATELY. IT’S BETTER TO BE SAFE THAN SORRY.
STEP 3: IF YOU SUSPECT IT, REPORT IT
If you suspect you or someone YOU KNOW might be in danger OF HUMAN TRAFFICKING, call the National Human Trafficking Hotline:
WANT TO LEARN MORE? HOST A PRESENTATION.
SCHOOLS - CHURCHES - SMALL GROUPS - BUSINESSES
Our presentations educate our audience on the basics of SEX trafficking, the recruitment tools and tactics used by traffickers to lure in their victims, as well as what the traffickers look for in choosing their targets. At every presentation, we show the video at the top of this page to introduce the topic. Our goal is that our audience is equipped to recognize when a potential trafficking situation is developing, and to know how to stop it.
This presentation is for adults and students ages 13+. We can adapt our presentation for middle school ages, after consulting with the host and parents involved. If you would like to host a presentation at your school, church, business, small group, etc, please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
